One thing they like to do up here at Bethel is what they call Treasure Hunts. What you do is everyone gathers together - we pray and get drunk in the Spirit, then fill out a Treasure map. The Treasure Map Consists of six blanks for five categories: Location, Name, Person Appearance, Prayer Need, and The Unusual. Then you split up into teams and read off your Locations to find out where you should do - if the same thing is written down more than once, its considered a "hit". You go to the place and look for people that fit criteria on your list by matching the clues OR anyone else that jumps out at you. You go and talk and pray, prophecy, encourage or heal the people - whatever the Spirit is leading you to do.
I went monday and we ended up at Sport Authority where we got to pray for this girl Danielle - about family she was worried about in Houston with the hurricane coming - she had been through Katrina and Rita and was really worried - she was really blessed that she was 'the treasure' and that we would pray with her. Then we went to Winco Foods(a grocery store) and ended up walking around and monopolizing the blue shirt, blue bottoms population of the store. Everywhere we turned around we saw someone! Rarely did people just walk away and not recieve prayer or encouragement. I believed they were all really blessed and felt seen by the Lord.
We went again on wednesday and had another amazing time. This guy Jonathan and I got to pray for this autistic kid - there was a definetly a demenor change happenind during and after we prayed for him. His care-taker wasn't sure how he would react to strangers, but we ended up getting safetly close to him and Jonathan got to lay his hand on him. it was really amazing and then on the way back to the church Jason(our team leader that day) and I got to sing prophetic songs over him - he said later that he was a really touched. It was amazing to get to push out of things that I have done or been a part of before.
Jason is a second year student at Bethel and was just encouraging us that first year is really about learning your identity in the Kingdom of God and facing and breaking all fears that hold us back - we can only break them by facing them! Its been exhilarating and free-ing to run hard after this.
With talking with memorial day friends and others, we are already so amazed by how much we feel we've grown and learned and school hasn't even started yet!! Haha, how Awesome is our God!
